...To Announce Next Party Soon
By Susan Maina
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has formally decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said on Tuesday that he had finally abandoned the party on whose ticket he became governor four years ago.
Obaseki disclosed this on Tuesday shortly after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja.
Recall that he said on Monday that he would announce his next destination after meeting with Buhari.
But, speaking with State House Correspondents after meeting with Buhari, the governor declined to mention his new party.
His action followed his disqualification from the June 22 primaries of the APC.
Obaseki's meeting with Buhari came barely 24 hours after APC National Chairman, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, led National Working Committee members to a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, at the Presidential Villa.
The agenda was the Edo APC crisis.
Reports say it was almost certain that Obaseki's next destination would be the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
