The emergence of Mudashiru Obasa as the Speaker of the 9th Lagos State House of Assembly may not be unconnected to the role he played in an attempt to deny immediate past Governor of the State, Akinwunmi Ambode.
Obasa representing Agege Constituency 1 and the immediate past Speaker the house was re-elected unopposed today during the inauguration of the assembly today, Friday
The inauguration also saw Wasiu Sanni elected as Deputy Speaker.
The speaker who was first elected unopposed speaker of the house in 2015 is believed to have the backing of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.
Obasa had in January 28, 2019 led his colleagues to push for an impeachment against Ambode.
The impeachment plot was however not successful following intervention of party leaders including, Tinubu.
